Rules & Regulations for Fatbike Use in the EU

At FatbikeCenter, your safety and legal compliance are our top priorities. Before riding your fatbike, please take a moment to review the following rules and regulations based on European Union (EU) standards.

1. Maximum Speed Limit

Electric fatbikes must not exceed a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h.

The electric motor is allowed to assist only while pedaling.

Once the speed reaches 25 km/h, the motor must automatically cut off.

2. Throttle / Gas Handle Use

The use of a gas throttle is only permitted for startup.

The throttle may assist up to a maximum of 6 km/h to help with getting started (walk assist).

Continuous throttle operation beyond 6 km/h is not legal on public roads.

3. Helmet Usage

Although helmets are not legally required for e-bikes under EU standard (EN15194), we strongly advise all riders to wear a helmet at all times for safety.

4. Age Recommendations

Fatbikes are not toys and are intended for responsible use.

We recommend use by riders aged 14 years and older, depending on local laws.

5. Legal Compliance

All fatbikes sold by FatbikeCenter comply with the EN15194 EU e-bike standard.

Modifying or “tuning” the bike to exceed legal limits voids the warranty and makes the bike illegal for public road use.

6. Where You Can Ride

Legal fatbikes can be used on public roads, bike lanes, and designated cycling paths.

Off-road use is permitted only on legal, designated off-road bike trails and must be done safely and responsibly.

Riding off-road in unauthorized areas is not allowed.

7. Lighting and Reflectors

Your fatbike must be equipped with front and rear lights and reflectors if used in low-light conditions or at night.

8. Registration & Insurance

In most EU countries, fatbikes (25 km/h, pedal-assist only) do not require registration, a driving license, or insurance.

Local regulations may vary. Always check your city or country’s specific rules.

By purchasing or riding a fatbike from FatbikeCenter, you agree to operate your bike responsibly and within the legal framework. Stay safe, follow the rules, and enjoy the ride.

Warranty Limitation Notice

The warranty provided for all fatbikes sold by FatbikeCenter is subject to the following limitations and exclusions. Failure to comply with the terms outlined below may result in the warranty being rendered void.

1. Unauthorized Modifications and Tampering

Any alteration of the fatbike’s original components, including but not limited to the motor, controller, or speed limiter, is strictly prohibited. The speed limit is factory-set at 25 km/h in accordance with EU regulations. Bypassing, removing, or altering this restriction will void the warranty in full.

2. Non-Approved Parts and Accessories

Use of non-original or non-approved parts (e.g., batteries, chargers, electronics, or mechanical components) may lead to malfunction or damage and is not covered under warranty. Tampering with or Removal of Serial Number: The warranty is void if the original serial number (embeded or sticker) is removed, altered, or defaced in any way.

3. Improper Use of Battery

Improper charging, overcharging, using unapproved chargers, or exposing the battery to extreme temperatures or moisture will void battery-related warranty coverage. Opening, modifying, or tampering with the battery unit in any form is strictly prohibited.

4. Neglect and Lack of Maintenance

Routine maintenance is essential. Damage resulting from neglect, such as failure to maintain brakes, tires, chain, or electrical systems, is not covered. Riding through deep water or using high-pressure water cleaning methods on electrical components is considered misuse.

5. Commercial or Unauthorized Use

This warranty is intended for personal use only. Use of the fatbike for commercial activities (e.g., delivery, rental, courier services) will void the warranty unless explicitly stated in the original purchase agreement, or mentioned in an agreement with us.

6. Improper Repairs or Servicing

Repairs must be conducted by an authorized technician or service center. Any self-repair, disassembly, or servicing by unauthorized personnel will result in immediate warranty termination.

Incorrect Use of Settings:
Using the bike’s electronic or mechanical settings in a manner inconsistent with the manufacturer’s instructions will void the warranty.

Improper Assembly or Installation:
If the bike is assembled incorrectly, or parts are installed improperly or with unauthorized components, the warranty will not apply.

7. Accidental Damage or Misuse

Damage due to accidents, falls, collisions, or external impacts is not covered under this warranty. Cosmetic damage such as scratches, dents, or paint wear is excluded.

8. Off-Road Use

Unless the fatbike is explicitly marketed as suitable for off-road use, operation on unapproved or non-designated off-road paths is not covered. Use on legal and designated bike trails is permitted, provided it is done safely and in accordance with local regulations.

Note: FatBikeCenter reserves the right to inspect and determine the cause of any reported defect. In the event of any breach of these terms, warranty claims will be denied.
